Showcase Sunday #10

Showcase SundayThe aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else has received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops or downloaded on to eReaders each week. Hosted by Books, Biscuits and Tea.

I haven’t done a Showcase Sunday in a few weeks because I simply haven’t had time.. I know, such a horrible excuse! In my defense I haven’t received many books either!

I bought:
Defiance by C. J. Redwine CoverCity of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Defiance by C. J. Redwine
I pre-ordered this book! It sounds pretty cool, but I have heard mixed reviews so I’m going to go into it with low expectations. That way I should love it!

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare
I bought it because I own the first four but I have actually only read City of Bones… I plan on reading the second book sometime soon!

Since this isn’t many books at all, I might as well share the books I got out of the library as well!

Library:
Outpost by Ann Aguirre CoverAshes by Ilsa J. Bick CoverThe Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

Outpost by Ann Aguirre
I loved, loved, LOVED Enclave! So I’ve been dying to read this book! I’m half way through it now actually and it is freaking awesome! I really need to own this series.

Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick
I’m in a zombie phase, so what else can I say? I’m kind of nervous to read this book because I’ve never read anything like it. Yet at the same time I am very exciting because it sounds really good.

The Forest of Hands & Teeth by Carrie Ryan
As you can see: Zombie Phase. I’m even waiting for Alice in Zombieland! But I think I may read that one after reading something non-zombie…

I haven’t done a Showcase Sunday in a few weeks because I was in the reading and blogging funk for a few of those weeks… Hopefully I’m back from that though!

I received a few awesome books!

For Review:
The Lure of Shapinsay Cover

The Lure of Shapinsay by Krista Holle
Received from the author for review

Colonization by Aubrie Dionne
Received for the blog tour!

Bought
Onyx by Jennifer L Armentrout Cover

Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I pre-ordered this book so I received it a few weeks ago. I was so excited when it turned up! Although I still have to read Obsidian… It’s in my literal TBR pile right now though. I’ve just got to stop requesting books for the library so I can get through them to get to this series!

I only bought ebooks this week!
eBooks:

Sea Scoundrel by Annette Blair
Eden by Kerry Taylor
Other Systems by Elizabeth Guizzetti
Messenger in the Mist by Aubrie Dionne
Initiation by Imogen Rose
Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis
Paradise 21 by Aubrie Dionne
Tundra 37 by Aubrie Dionne
A Hero Rising by Aubrie Dionne

So many Sci Fi books this week! I think my I’m slowly getting back on my Sci Fi kick! I discovered Aubrie Dionne and her books when a cover reveal for her new book called Colonization was the other week. I am so excited for that book that I ended up looking for other books that she had written and I came across her A New Dawn series (The three above).

All of the other books were either free or really cheap so I decided to get them and give them a go! I love the covers for Prince of Wolves and Initiation! They look cool next to each other :D

Other Systems and Eden sound freaking awesome as well! I can’t wait to read these! I need to read faster so I can hurry up and get to them…

This week I received all of the books I ordered when I went on my book buying spree the other week… Well minus the pre-orders. So here they are!

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver
Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris
Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris
Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris
Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris
Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout

A few of them came with damaged covers :( Whyy are the Sookie Stackhouse books such ugly colours of yellow?! (Minus Deadlocked, that’s a nice yellow). I do not understand!

I have so many unread books on my bookshelf right now. And I definitely now have no more room! How I wish I could fit a proper bookcase in!

All the books I bought this week were eBooks! There are only five, I actually ended up buying them on a whim because they were cheaper than usual and they are only available as eBooks.

Granted the first four books are actually eNovellas.

The Assassin and the Pirate Lord
The Assassin and the Desert
The Assassin and the Underworld
The Assassin and the Empire
By Sarah J. Maas

I decided to get these because I’m excited for The Throne of Glass (Even if there have been mixed reviews on it), these novella’s sounded interesting so I thought why not?

Whispers in Autumn by Trisha Leigh

I decided to get this eBook because I’ve wanted it since I first saw the cover reveal for it (Isn’t the cover just beautiful?). I thought the summary sounded really interesting and something I could like (It’s about aliens!), then I saw it was only $4 on Amazon and decided I just could not not buy it at that price!
Eek!

This week I actually received two orders which I placed quite a few weeks ago. I love getting packages in the mail!

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Soo considering I loved this book so much you would have thought I already owned it… Yeahh I only just purchased it. I borrowed it from the library when I read it and have only just gotten around to buying it myself. I can’t wait for Boundless!

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This book and it’s sequel had been blowing up the book blogging community a few weeks ago. That’s how I discovered it. Everyone is raving about it and it had so many five and four star reviews I knew I would like it.
I’ve heard her Covenant series is good. I’m wondering if I’ll like it. Have you read that series? Did you enjoy it?

Sookie Stackhouse 1 – 8 (box set) by Charlaine Harris
I decided to get the boxset – it has the first eight books in it – because it was cheaper than getting each book separately. The books are kind of small but to be honest I don’t actually mind. Which is weird for me. When I get the next books I will probably mind a little bit that they will be bigger than these, but oh well, this box set was cheaper than buying each book separately and since there are so many books I thought it was this or not at all! Although, I am kind of annoyed that all the books aren’t the same cover line! Ahh well, I’m not sure if the recent books are the same cover line either.

I can’t wait to read Obsidian and the Sookie Stackhouse books! So excited to finally have them on my shelves. And Unearthly looks really pretty next to Hallowed!

Soo over the past few week’s I’ve bought these books. Personally I am so excited to start reading them! It’s pretty bad because I keep putting off reading eBooks that I’ve bought, physical books are just so much nicer to read!

Sweep: Volume One by Cate Teirnan
(The first three books bundled into one book:  Book of Shadows, The Coven, Blood Witch)
I bought this book on a whim because it was on sale at my bookstore. When I picked it up I thought it was a trilogy in one book, so for $10 I was like: Sure! Why not? Bargain! Then I discovered there are fifteen books in this series… When I buy a book I HAVE to have every book in that series… So now I have to buy all of these books. Whoops.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Everyone raves about this book so I thought I’m sure I’ll love it too! Might as well buy it.

Partials by Dan Wells
I stumbled across this book on amazon, there were so many five star reviews that I decided that this book must be awesome.

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead
I still haven’t read Bloodlines! I’m crazy because I bought it as soon as it came out last year! I just knew I would be annoyed waiting for the next book so I kept putting it off… Well here is the second book of the series. Off to read Bloodlines then this one next!  So excited!

I’m pretty annoyed though because The Immortal Rules came with this sticker on the front…
I’m too scared to try and peel off in case I damage the book or it won’t all come off and leaves an ugly white circle left sitting there… Darn it!
